I recently had the opportunity to collaborate with a group of Brisbane creatives on a photo shoot that really touched my heart. Not just any shoot, this photo series explores the model's journey in self love and self expression.
Rhiannon shared a post on social media that truly touched my heart and resonated so strongly with all that I as a person and Lazy Girl stands for. Read on for a heartfelt insight into Rhiannon's personal journey that will inspire and move you.
'I Am' - Rhiannon Wyvill
"I am confident in who I am. I am confident in who I will be. I am proud of how far I have come and happy for those who journeyed with me. I am not afraid of what may come my way in the future. I have learnt to love who I was, who I am and who I will be. No matter what anyone says I will not become their words. I am not afraid to listen to your opinion but I am my own person. I donʼt need to act like, say things or look like anything. I am not sexualising myself. I am wearing something that I feel empowered in. If I am wearing lingerie in a simple photo, it doesnʼt mean that I am asking for “it”. I do not ask for the sexual attention, you can leave that behind.
If you wish to tell me I need to show more skin or that I am not posing the right way in lingerie then sure, you can say your opinion but it won't define me or make me feel like I am not right. I can pose how I want to pose, I donʼt need to pose sexually in lingerie to look good. I do not wear lingerie to look sexy. I do not wear these pieces for you. I wear lingerie because it makes me feel empowered. I feel bold and confident. I am not here to feed your sexual desire but to empower others to stand up. The only “sexy” thing in this photo is my confidence. I do not wear lingerie for you. I wear it for me. Do not try to damage my self-love to change that.
All my life I lived that common battle between: love yourself and hate yourself. I know its hard not to pick at your flaws thinking youʼre imperfect. I know that I am not perfect, but I know that I am beautiful the way I am. I would not be the person I am without my flaws. Iʼm not just talking about physical flaws, Iʼm talking about those ones we keep inside and hide. Hiding them just makes it harder to love them. Embrace every single flaw you have. Learn to love them! Love yourself! Donʼt let anyone try to change the way you are. You donʼt need to look differently, talk differently or act differently to be amazing is every aspect of life. Be you. Be bold."
