A little bit of a personal update tonight on the blog, my Engagement Party! My wonderful Dillon proposed about six months ago while we were on holidays in Japan and we finally got our wriggle on to have our Engagement Party not too long ago!
For such an exciting occasion, I of course had to make myself a dress! I came up with the idea of an off the shoulder cut as it is a personal favourite of mine - so obsessed with anything in this style! With winter coming up I knew the dress had to have long sleeves and be somewhat warm, and I always love a classy kind of style to my designs. My final product was a over the knee fitted dress in a teal stretch fabric, with long sleeves and crossover draping along the bust.
I actually find it SO much more stressful to make something for myself than to make my orders for you girls! I'm not too sure why, I guess leaving it til the last minute contributes to the stress!! I squeezed in time to work on the dress on the weekend's leading up to the party, but didn't finish it completely until the day of the party. My mum was not impressed to see it still in pieces on my cutting table, but she was just as relieved as I was when it was done ;)
I stuck with really simple accessories for the night as I wanted the dress to be the "statement". I chose a gold plait belt as I always love to emphasize the waist, I just think it's so feminine and shapes you nicely. I also wore a gold choker and necklace combo that I really loved, and nude heels (always!). The very lovely Karli from ibeautyconnect did an amazing job on my makeup and I did a quick updo for my hair. Also thank you to Autumn Grace Photography for the amazing photos.
