Meet the Maker
Creativity is in my blood, with a life long love affinity for fashion and design set into my heart from the moment my grandmother taught me to sew on her old Singer sewing machine.
After graduating high school, I interned for a local fashion designer in my hometown in sunny North Queensland, and was offered a spot in an emerging designers hub, soaking up whatever I could about this new industry I was so passionate about.
Eager to expand my skills, I packed up my *tiny* car with all of my worldly possessions and set off for fashion college in the Gold Coast to chase my dreams. Fashion college taught me so much and led the way to an internship opportunity which turned into my first real fashion job as an accessories designer for Australia’s premier bridal label. I gained industry experience in pattern making, sewing, quality control and garment fitting techniques along the way.
My lightbulb moment for Lazy Girl came during college when we made our first lingerie set. I had always loved lacey underthings, but often the experience of trying them on made me feel terrible. This was the first set that truly fit me like a glove and it truly changed the way I felt about myself. I thought “If this has the power to make me feel like this, imagine what I do for other women”. And then the idea Lazy Girl was born!
Growing a business is not for the faint hearted - I spent a long time balancing a 9-5 job then doing it all over again once I got home for my side hustle. It’s been four years of designing, photoshoots, learning the ropes of business, building my ever growing collection of sewing machines and above all else inspiring women who celebrate their bodies and to feel effortlessly confident. I wouldn’t have it any other way - growing this business has been one of the greatest joys of my life!
I now spend my days creating pretty lingerie for women to feel incredible in my Scenic Rim home studio, the hinterland nestled between Gold Coast and Brisbane. My two pups Astrid and Sage keep my company and my lovely finance Dillon lights up my world. When I’m not busy working on my passion project, I love to go horse-riding and hiking, and I’m a true lazy girl at heart so I love nothing more than a cup of tea and Crafternoon with my besties or curling up with a good book and my handsome hubby to be.
Thank you so much for coming on this journey with me - I truly feel honoured to share my story with you!
Love and lingerie,
